The High House, Happisburgh, is our charming family cottage which has been well used by five generations of our family and friends since the early 1950's. We also rent it out when not in use to friends and other contacts to enjoy our special holiday home.
Our lovely thatched cottage is an early 19th century cottage with three bedrooms, situated on the edge of a pretty Norfolk village. It has stunning views over the North Sea, Happisburgh church and lighthouse. It is surrounded on three sides by open fields. It is well equipped, modernised, cosy and comfortable.
Our cottage is ideal for those who want a really comfortable break and holiday on the beach in Norfolk without fuss and with everything you need.
We choose not to rent this out through commercial sites because we want to keep the charm of the cottage and so the tariff is quite a lot lower than a normal holiday rental by the sea in Norfolk .
Guests are advised to bring their own linen, and to be aware that whilst the cottage is very well equipped, the contents reflect the fact that it is mainly a family holiday cottage with its own family history. This is illustrated by the books in the book case, the idiosyncratic collection of cutlery and crockery ,CD’s and videos, toys, bicycles, cooking equipment, linen, hot water bottles etc which family members have donated over time. So it is different from holiday cottages rented out commercially but has its own unique charm.
A four minute walk to the beach makes it ideal for a seaside holiday. Please note this is a coastal path down the steep cliff that is maintained by our family and is not accessible for people with access issues. For those with access issues the coast has been badly eroded and is subject to change. The local council are renewing the village access to the beach and you can access it via the village coastal access in the centre of the village. If you are walking from our 'Fishermens Steps' to the village beach you should check the tides which you can do so here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/coast-and-sea/tide-tables/1/154
Comfortably sleeping 8 this cottage is available for rent throughout the year.
Good internet access and broadband wifi.
PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOU HAVE ACCESS ISSUES THE COTTAGE IS NOT SUITABLE FOR YOU, THE STAIRS TO THE UPPER FLOORS ARE ORIGINAL WINDING STAIRS AND CAN BE DIFFICULT TO NAVIGATE. ALL BEDROOMS ARE ON THE UPPER FLOORS. CHECK PICTURES ON THE ACCOMMODATION PAGE FOR DETAILS.
Pets welcome.
